Kalim Beach is situated north of Patong Beach. Unlike its infamous neighbor, Kalim retains some of the local Thai lifestyle. A large parking and vendor area at the south end splits the beach in two. There you'll find a popular street food market with around 10 stands offering up local delicacies. The beach itself is a bit rocky and not the premiere choice for swimmers, although snorkelling is enjoyed during high tides. Kalim Beach's highlight during low season is surfing. Kalim is considered by many to be one of the best surfing locations in Phuket; surfing competitions are even held here. There is also a good selection of upscale restaurants for the food-lovers, with many cuisines catered to.
