The Thalang National Museum in Phuket was established with the cooperation of locals to display a collection of historical artifacts essential in history, archeology, and arts and culture. It was built to commemorate the two women, Thao Thep Kasattri and Thao Si Sunthon, for their patriotic heroism in the historical event of the 'Thalang Battle.' In addition, there is an exhibit about the history of Thalang in the Rattanakosin era with the display of antique guns, knives, and pocket swords, which are the heirloom of the Na Thalang family, and the exhibits of Vishnu, pottery, and prehistoric ornaments, etc. In addition, The Museum was designed by Mr. Udom Sakulpanich, who incorporated the southern architecture into the main building to attain the identity of the local Phuket house. It is also well-conserved as an invaluable local architecture and honored with the Gold Medal Award on the design from The Architecture Society under the Royal Patronage. National Museum Thalang is also an important historical learning center for tourists and the young generation to know valuable history. Thalang National Museum opens to visitors every Wednesday-Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (closes on Monday and Tuesday).
