Bang Neaw Shrine, also known as "Taw Boo Keng Shrine," the word Taw Boo means "the northern star" and Keng means "Palace," which means collectively "Palace of the North Star." This ancient shrine was built in 1904, with a history of opera troupes coming from China to perform in Macau Alley ( currently is Soi Romanee). They brought a sacred Chinese god statue used to honor and make merit in the vegetarian festival. Therefore, a shrine was built in that area. Later, a fire broke out at the shrine for unknown reasons. As a result, the Chinese god statue was relocated to house numbers 384-386 on
