The Emporium is a luxury shopping mall and a major component of the "EM District." It opened on 27 July 1997 during the Tom Yum Kung Crisis. The Emporium consists of a shopping center, a movie theater, office buildings and hotels. As well as The Mall and Siam Paragon, located on Sukhumvit Road next to Benchasiri Park, The Emporium is owned and operated by The Mall Group and designed by J+H Boiffils. This luxury shopping mall targets foreign and high-end customers. Currently, the building has two functional parts. The first part is a shopping complex; this part of the mall is decorated in the form of a gallery with white and gold. Another part is Emporium Tower, a multi-purpose building 43 floors high. The Emporium Tower consists of the Emporium office building which houses the offices of many multinational companies and is also the location of City Mall Group Co., Ltd., which manages shopping centers in The EM District. Another part in The Emporium Tower is Emporium Suites By Chatrium, a premium 5-star hotel and luxury-serviced residences managed by Chatrium Hospitality.
