Get ready to soak up the fun in Phuket as the upcoming Songkran water splashing has been given the green light! It's time to gear up with your water guns and prepare to splash your way through the streets of this beautiful island.
The festival of Songkran, commonly referred to as the Thai New Year, is a highly anticipated event in Thailand celebrated annually in April. This occasion traditionally entails family reunions and paying respect to the elders; however, it is also famous for the animated water fights that occur on the streets.
After a hiatus of three years with no water splashing, the president of the Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation, Rewat Areerob, has affirmed this delightful news.
The authorized festivities are scheduled to take place in Phuket Town, specifically on Dibuk Road, located in front of Limelight Avenue shopping mall. However, to ensure a safe and enjoyable event, the consumption of alcohol and drugs will not be allowed. The shopping mall is organizing the event under the slogan 'Songkran No Al,' which stands for a Songkran celebration without alcohol.
The Phuket Songkran No Al festival has been a thriving event for nine years, attracting a diverse mix of Thai and international tourists, mainly aged between 15 and 35. It stands as the sole Songkran celebration of its type in the region. This year's festivity is expected to pull in a minimum of 25,000 attendees.
The festivities will encompass the preservation of Songkran customs, such as the symbolic act of pouring water over the hands of older individuals and cleansing Buddha statues. Local and prominent music bands from Bangkok will perform at the event. Additionally, individuals are urged to wear traditional attire during the celebration.
The permission to splash water is anticipated to lead to numerous events across the island. Rewat has announced that the event area will be accessible between 5 pm and 10 pm.
During Songkran festival, one of top 9 events in Phuket 2023, the streets of Phuket come alive with locals and tourists participating in water fights and splashing each other with water guns and buckets. It is a fun and festive atmosphere that brings everyone together and is a great way to beat the heat during the hot and humid summer months. But with so many people coming to Phuket to celebrate Songkran, finding accommodation can be a challenge. One option is to stay in a villa, which offers many benefits over traditional hotel rooms.
Villas in Phuket provide privacy, exclusivity, and a sense of luxury. They are typically larger than hotel rooms and come equipped with all the amenities you need to enjoy your stay. Many villas in Phuket come with private pools, spacious living areas, and fully equipped kitchens, allowing you to cook your own meals and save money on dining out.
In addition, staying in a villa during Songkran allows you to experience the festival from a more relaxed and comfortable setting. You can still participate in the water fights and festivities, but you also have the option of retreating to your own private oasis to relax and unwind.
Overall, celebrating Songkran Day in Phuket and staying in a Phuket villa is a great way to experience this popular festival while also enjoying the comfort and luxury of your own private accommodation.
So, get ready to let loose and enjoy the festivities as you splash your way through the streets of Phuket. With the green light given, there's no better time to start planning your trip to experience the joy and excitement of Songkran water splashing in one of Thailand's most beautiful locations!
