Yan Nawa District has a more than 100-year history, as evidenced by foreign documents, archeology, and Ayutthaya's architectural elements found in Wat Chong Nonsi, Wat Dok Mai, and Wat Khok Krabue ( Wat Yan Nawa). However, the most historical evidence is in the Rattanakosin Period since there was the arrival of Dawei people in the reign of the royal bodhisombara of King Buddha Yodfa Chulalok the Great. Due to a large concentration of Tavoy people, this area was called Ban Thawai District in a part of Phra Pradaeng Province. Ban Thawai later moved up to Phra Nakhon Province and was renamed "Yan Nawa," which means "boat" after the merger of Phra Nakhon and Thon Buri provinces. It is the capital city of Krungthep Thonburi or the present name of Bangkok. Speaking of local lifestyles in the past, their lives mostly related to traditional beliefs and culture, and their occupations are related to agriculture, including agriculture, farming, and fisheries. Nowadays, people in this area dramatically change to have a modern lifestyle.
