Kathu Subdistrict is fully developed and convenient for living as it is fully equipped with facilities such as sports fields, banks, fresh markets, Loch Palm Golf Course Country Club, and Red Mountain Golf Course Phuket, as well as basic infrastructure, including electrics, water supply, and roads. As Thai Buddhists and Thai-Chinese people live together in the subdistrict, there are several sacred places such as Ket Ho Temple, Kathu Temple, Kathu Shrine, Tong Yong Su Shrine, etc. Medical centers in the subdistrict are Kathu Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, a government service providing consultation and initial treatment. Also, there is a community antenatal clinic. Educational institutions in the subdistrict vary from early childhood to the bachelor's degree, managed by both government and private sector. They include Prince of Songkla University Phuket Campus, IQI International School, Kajonkietsuksa School Kathu, Thairath Wittaya 29 School, etc. Transportation in Kathu is considered convenient as there are many roads. The Vichitsongkram Road is an arterial road that leads to Phuket Town Municipality Office and the center of Kathu, while Phrabaramee Road (National Highway 4029) connects to Patong Municipality Office. Phra Phuket Kaew Road connects to Phuket City Municipality (Samkong), whereas Kathu-Samkong Road leads to Vichitsongkram Road. Besides, there are small roads to other communities.
