Hua Hin is one of the oldest sea resorts in Thailand. It has a relaxed feel with a refreshing mix of city and sea. It is one of eight districts in Prachuap Khiri Khan. During 1903 a railway was built between Hua Hin and Bangkok, with the main visitors being those from the Royal family or people of high significance in Thailand. In the early 20th century Prince Chakrabhongse visited for a hunting trip and was so awestruck by the area he decided to build a villa there, putting Hua Hin on the map. Nowadays it is a popular seaside resort community with an estimated population of 63,091 and has remained a weekend holiday destination amongst the Thai people. Well known for its National Parklands, rainforests, and striking caves and beaches. The sea resort offers many types of activities for visitors and an abundant selection of fresh, affordable seafood. Hua Hin is also known for its world-class golf courses and was home to the very first golf course in Thailand.
Hua Hin is host to around 3,000 to 5,000 expats, taking residence in the seaside town. The area is still a popular holiday hotspot for Bangkok Thais and has managed to retain its Thai charm with a mix of international influence.
