Koh Samui is located in the Thai province of Surat Thani and is the third-largest island in Thailand. It has a population of over 62,500 and over 2.4 million tourists visited the island last year. There is a thriving nightlife with restaurants, bars, and clubs and an abundance of pristine beaches with a calm and relaxed feel. The capital town is Nathon and is found on the south-west coast of the island, which is then divided up into four main areas; Chaweng, the main nightlife area and most popular for people to stay, Lamai, similar to Chaweng with restaurants and bars, but with a more laid-back vibe, Choeng Mon, Chawengs neighbour has no traffic and no parties and lastly Bophut, which is a small fisherman’s village with many restaurants and home to the popular fisherman’s village markets.

The Island offers has an excellent selection of Luxury Real Estate types that cater to all investment types. Island zoning regulations have limited the development of high-rise condominium projects when compared to other areas of Thailand. Modest-priced, boutique-style condominium projects are predominately located in Bang Rak and Mae Nam. Mid-range priced sea-view villas can be found in Bophut and Chaweng and these properties start with 2-bedroom. The weather is warm for most of the year and the island has less of a wet season than other areas around Thailand. The traffic on the island is also quiet, although the island does not have many transport options, you can easily use a Songthaew, which is a standard mode of transportation available in Koh Samui, is a pickup truck. It can accommodate 8-10 passengers. It carries passengers around the main city and to many outer suburb roads that lead to various beach towns neighboring the city. Most people choose to rent or buy a bike or a car, which can be done at a relatively low price. Samui’s airport is privately owned; only two airlines fly in and out of the island and the cost is a little higher than that of other airports. There are other options to get to the island, via bus, van or taxi, followed by a short ferry ride to the island. Since many expats choose to reside in Koh Samui from all around the world, international produce and home comforts are easy to find. The Island is also well-known for its selection of high-quality international schools.
